  Sure, from time to time we see how our Mac's battery is coming to an end and we still have so many things to do that we don't have a plug to plug it in.  what can we do?  Wait until it runs out?  Here comes the low consumption mode that can give us a few extra hours of energy, depending on what we are doing.

  Something to mention before we proceed is that this mode is available on macOS 12 Monterey or later which works on MacBook from early 2016 onwards.  Currently, no MacBook Air model has this feature.

  Low power mode is used to reduce power consumption by lowering screen brightness and lowering the processor clock speed.  This way, the screen will look dimmer and the apps will perform slower than usual.

  How to enable Low Power Mode on a Mac

  Low Power Mode can be used while your Mac is on battery power and plugged into power.  To get started, we will have to click on the Apple menu located in the upper left corner.  A new menu is displayed and we will have to select macOS System Preferences.

  Once we are in the "Preferences" section, we will select "Battery".

  Next, in the left sidebar, we will have to choose "Battery" again.  On the right side, we will look for the “Low consumption mode” option and mark it.

  If what we want is to use Low Power Mode while our Mac is charging, we will simply have to click on the Power Adapter menu in the sidebar and check the box next to Low Power Mode.

  If we want to know whether low consumption mode is enabled or not in a quick way, we can click on the battery icon located in the corner of the menu bar.  However, to disable it, we will have to repeat the above steps.
