For a decentralized internet, beyond physical data centers

Decentralized internet is the future and it has many advantages and disadvantages.

Some companies prevent not only from collecting personal information, but also avoid using it to make money.

Today, the Internet is centralized and many companies have enough power to manipulate certain events, even political ones.  Something we avoid with a decentralized internet.

This article, we can say, is something special.  This is a kind of community interview for Free Ton, a community-led decentralized blockchain movement for the free internet.  On this occasion, we will talk with various members of the community about a decentralized internet, away from physical data centers.

Decentralized Internet?  What are your advantages and disadvantages?

One of the main advantages is governance.  It can be difficult to argue against decentralization, since there is no room for government regulation, we must not deny that this can be a problem.  A clear example of this is extremist groups that can use decentralized communication, and without a central entity able to control the mechanism used to disseminate their information, how can we avoid that?  close it?

Faults, ironically, judgment.  Definitions of what governments consider extremist groups can easily be expanded to include anyone from a book-reading group to protesters.  But in turn, a centralized Internet gives organizations the possibility of excessive control over the personal data of all of us.

  What does decentralization mean?

Essentially, decentralization allows us to prevent organizations from getting our data.  We will not need to store personal information on networks such as Facebook and Google, who make money by monetizing this data.  People will be able to control their own data.

How is the decentralization of the Internet changing?

Almost all of our online activities are under constant monitoring, and our data is tracked and collected all the time by companies, application developers and governments;  Our privacy and security are always at risk.

In that sense, using a browser in incognito mode doesn't help much, even using a VPN or a VPN is effective, not to mention that it leads to something convenient and accessible to everyone, either for one reason or another.

The decentralized blockchain internet is peer-to-peer, and society owns and manages the infrastructure, and controls governments and businesses.

  The best of decentralized internet

A decentralized, blockchain-based internet ensures the security of our data.  Make the Internet a public resource.  Internet platforms, user data, and applications are hosted on central servers, giving companies the ability to create highly detailed profiles of their users, more detailed than we can imagine.

We must bear in mind that this data is used to manipulate audiences, electoral results, etc.  Example?  The Cambridge Analytics Facebook scandal.

With the blockchain in a decentralized internet, our data is precisely our data and we decide whether we want to share it.  The only thing needed to access the apps is our blockchain wallet.  It will not be necessary to have a username and password to remember.  A hacker won't be able to get anything by hacking an app to steal your login details, because they don't exist.

  Decentralized Network Challenges

We must consider that the absolute freedom that comes with decentralization means that without rules and regulations, people can take advantage of these tools to spread hateful opinions and misinformation.

The answer to this big problem may be decentralization itself.  The blockchain is transparent in nature and this type of misinformation can be leaked at the user level.  However, this prompts the user to exercise due diligence.  This can only be a positive thing, and again, it puts strength in the person.

  Any fear of decentralization?

Perhaps the only fear of a decentralized internet is the freedom it brings with it, and the possibility that many people who want to do it will do it.  However, all societies will adequately regulate themselves.  Although there are always exceptions.

A decentralized Internet will change many things, and it will have little impact on today's central Internet institutions;  They will not be under control.  It will be more integrated into everyday life and the user will be the one with the power.

We will no longer have to see what Google and Facebook want us to see.  We will be the ones making the decisions.  The Internet will not be ruled by a few.
