Windows 11 FAQ Is it worth upgrading?

Obviously, a new version of Microsoft's operating system raises many doubts.  That's why we made the decision to create this article with frequently asked questions about Windows 11 and we'll try to answer one of the biggest ones. Is it worth updating to the new version?

  Windows 11 FAQ:

Next, we will see 10 frequently asked questions about Windows 11. What do we need to update, if we lose our data and files or not, if it is free, if we need to buy a new computer, etc.

Is Windows 11 a free upgrade to Windows 10?

Windows 11 will be available for free to Windows 10 users. There is absolutely nothing to pay if you are using a genuine version of Windows 10 on your PC.  Obviously if we are on a computer that is not running the original version of Windows 10 or has another operating system, it is very likely that you will have to pay for a license.

Can I run Windows 11 on my PC or do I need to buy a new one?

As long as you meet Microsoft's minimum requirements to run the new operating system, there should be no problem.  In the event that we need to get a new computer, we will not only have the advantage of being able to use the latest version of the operating system, but we will also have a better using experience.

Why is a TPM required to upgrade to Windows 11?

The TPM or Trusted Platform Module is one of the main hardware requirements that we will need to install Windows 11. The TPM chip is a secure encryption wizard that will help you perform actions such as creating, saving, restricting the use of files, passwords, etc.  .  It comes built into your computer's motherboard or CPU.

It not only helps protect our data, passwords, credentials, etc.  It also helps us protect our computers from ransomware and malware attacks, which are becoming increasingly common.

How long can I keep using Windows 10?

The big question is, how long can we keep using the W10?  If you do not want to update or your computer does not meet the requirements to do so.  Don't worry that we can continue to use Windows 10 until 2025 when Microsoft decides to stop releasing security updates.

Although even after 2025 we will be able to continue using it.  The only thing we have to keep in mind is that by not having security updates we will get our operating system with some vulnerabilities.  This puts our personal data, credentials, bank details, etc. at risk.

If I have Windows 8, should I buy Windows 10?

The answer will basically be yes and no.  Microsoft has not yet officially judged what will happen to those devices running Windows 7 and 8. However, according to a report, it appears that the company will offer a live update to Windows 11. It will be a clean install, which means we will have to backup all our data  Because if it doesn't, it will be lost.

Everything seems to indicate that first it will be necessary to upgrade to Windows 10 and after that, it will be possible to completely move to Windows 11. Obviously, if your Windows 7 or 8 computer is not compatible with Windows 10,  We won't be able to update to W11 either.

Will the W11 solve the most important W10 problems?

Over time, Windows 10 has suffered from a number of issues that have negatively affected the user experience.  The idea of W11 is to try to solve these problems by adding new functions or removing many really useless ones.  In this sense, the only thing left for us is to wait and see what happens once we have the stable version of this operating system.

Does Windows 11 have touch functionality?

In fact, tablet mode has been completely removed from this new version.  But don't worry, that doesn't mean the W11 doesn't accept touch screens.  Touch functions are better integrated directly into the main interface, providing greater efficiency and long-term coexistence.

  When can it be updated?

Currently we can go into Windows Insider and get a beta build of Windows 11. Although it will not be ideal for the average user because, being beta, it can contain bugs.

For most users, we will have to wait a little longer to get the version of Windows 11. It is scheduled for release in late 2021, although the process may be progressive.  So some devices will get this version in early 2022.

How to download Windows 11 when it's available?

Like most Microsoft updates, when it is available, we will have to do it from the configuration of the operating system.  We will simply have to go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and here we can check for new updates.  However, when available, we may receive a notice in the form of a notice.

Do I lose my files once I upgrade to W11?

You don't have to worry about this because personal files will not be affected by changing the operating system.  Although it is clear that it is always advisable to create a backup of all the important data.  In this sense, it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Is it worth upgrading to Windows 11?

Honestly, my top recommendation is to wait a bit.  Early versions of practically anything can contain bugs or incompatibility.  Ideally, wait a few months or possibly a year before taking the leap.

Especially if the W10 works well for you.  In my personal case, I can't complain about the performance of my Windows 10 PC. So, I'm not too keen on releasing this new update, and I'll probably have to wait a long time before making the final leap.
