Solve the error D3DX9_41.dll is missing from the pc
“D3DX9_41.dll is missing from computer”, “D3DX9_41.dll is missing”, “D3DX9_41.dll error in Windows”… One of the most common errors in Windows 10, Windows 8 and Windows 7 is related to the D3DX9_41.dll file. Apparently, the error in question appears when trying to run a program that uses this file (Borderlands, Crusader Kings 2, Need for Speed Shift, The Walking Dead...). Fortunately, this error can be easily resolved by following a series of steps which we will explain in detail below.
Solve the error D3DX9_41.dll is missing from the computer
Like most DLLs, starting some programs depends on Visual Studio C++, which is a set of libraries necessary to run some Windows components. We can download these libraries through the following link:
Download Visual C++ for Windows:
Before proceeding with the download, we will have to find out the architecture of our equipment. To do this, we will right-click on the Windows icon in the Start menu. Next, we will click on System. In the window that will appear below, the system will allow us to see the device architecture in the System type section (it can be 32 or 64 bits).
After knowing the type of system, we will download the version compatible with our hardware: x86 for 32-bit computers and x64 for 64-bit computers. The installation process is similar to that of other programs. Finally, we will restart the computer.
Download D3DX9_41.dll manually to install the file in Windows:
If the above method does not work, the next thing we need to do is to manually download the D3DX9_41.dll file to install it in the corresponding directory.
Download 32 bit D3DX9_41.dll.dll2
Download D3DX9_41.dll 64-bit version.
Once the file compatible with our system is downloaded, we will navigate to the following path:
Local Disk C:\Windows\System32
Inside this folder we will paste the file we just downloaded. If our team has a 32-bit architecture, we can try to paste the file into the SysWOW64 folder that we can find in the same path. The other option is to paste the file in the same directory as the execution of the program we are trying to open as you can see in the following image:
Just right click on the program icon and click on open file location. Inside the folder that will open next, we will paste the DLL file we just downloaded.
If none of the above works properly, the last resort is to resort to CMD, the Windows command machine. Simply type the program's name into the Windows Start menu search bar. Before opening the program, we will right-click and click on Run with administrator privileges.
Once opened, we will type the following command:
sfc /scannow
Windows will automatically run a diagnostic tool that finds and fixes all system errors, including those related to DLL files. The process can take several minutes, of course, depending on the speed of your hard drive and processor. In no case will we be able to close the execution window or turn off the computer.
